  1. Two skeins of Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick yarn. We recommend one in Blossom & One in Astroland, between 125-130 yards each. However, you can use any super bulky 6 yarn.

  3. A large yarn needle for weaving in ends.
  4. A pair of scissors.
  5. A Clover pom pom maker.

Step 1: Foundation Row

Start with the Blossom yarn and chain the length you want for your hat’s height. We recommend 12 inches to create a fold-up brim.

Step 2: Row 1

From the 2nd chain from your hook, single crochet across every chain, then turn your work.

Step 3: Row 2

Chain 1 and single crochet in the back loop of each stitch across. Change colors at the end of the row and turn your work.

Step 4: Row 3 to Desired Width

Repeat Row 2, changing colors every two rows. If possible, end with a pink row. Once you’ve reached your desired width, fasten off.

Step 5: Finishing

Weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle. Hold the two ends together and whip stitch the two short ends of the hat to create a large tube.

Step 6: Closing Your Hat

Close the top open end of your hat using the method shown “here”. This method was also used to close our Simply Sweet Beanie.

Step 7: Pom Pom (Optional)

Using a large Clover Pom Pom Maker and the Blossom Wool Ease Thick & Quick, create a pom. To make it as fluffy as ours, be sure to add plenty of yarn. Attach the pom with a yarn needle and secure it firmly to the hat.

And voila! Your simple striped crochet beanie is ready!
